PART TWO OF TWO STUDIES
The Scriptures tell us that everyone has sinned. Every person is under the same condemnation for "all
have sinned." ( Romans 3:2) It was on the Cross of Calvary, that Jesus took man's place. His soul was
made an offering for sin, that sin should be removed from every soul who truly repents and accepts His
forgiveness by faith. It is by faith that a soul is cleansed in the Blood of Jesus. There is no need for
another sacrifice and there is nothing you can add to your salvation to make it any more acceptable,
pleasing, or any better in God's sight. Salvation is not from man but from God. The Cross of Calvary is
where the new creature in Christ begins. You come as a sinner, possibly in sickness, grief, and or in
poverty, but it is there you leave it all on the cross, on Jesus, who is your beautiful substitute. There
are many believers today who are going about trying to establish their own righteousness through their
own works, striving to be in the natural what God says we are naturally in the Spirit.

Now read the account of Isaiah the Prophet in Isaiah 6:1-8. It is through this Old Testament account
where we see the example of the "righteousness" that comes from God. Notice as you read here, that
Isaiah was in the temple worshiping the Lord, when he received his heavenly wake up call and
experienced the "opening of his spiritual eyes" to the grotesqueness of his uncleanness. This
beautiful work of "sanctification" (setting apart from sin), is a continual process in the believers life as
he or she grows up IN CHRIST, and learns to recognize and perceive the ugliness of sin and hate it as
much as God does. "You who love the Lord, hate evil" (sin) Psalms 97:10.
10. Read Isaiah 6:5. Once Isaiah had experience this awesome encounter of seeing the Lord, what was

It was in the temple when Isaiah was worshiping the Lord and received his call to the office of Prophet.
We can see by this fact, that Isaiah had previously developed a relationship with his God. After his sin
was exposed and he made his sincere confession, he did not any longer grieve over his past sins. He
believed God had taken his sins away, and he offered himself to God. There was nothing he did of or by
himself, to deserve God's forgiveness. His reaction to God, once his sin was exposed, brought him to is
knees in deep, honest and sincere repentance. Apostle Peter exampled this same kind of genuine
repentance for us in his account of betraying his Lord, by denying Him, three times.

13. Read Isaiah 6:8 again. Did Isaiah keep on moaning in his grief and condemning himself at the
hideousness of his sin once it was exposed? No
It was in the temple when Isaiah was worshiping the Lord and received his call to the office of Prophet.
We can see by this fact, that Isaiah had previously developed a relationship with his God. After his sin was
exposed and he made his sincere confession, he did not any longer grieve over his past sins. He believed
God had taken his sins away, and he offered himself to God. There was nothing he did of or by himself, to
deserve God's forgiveness. His reaction to God, once his sin was exposed, brought him to is knees in
deep, honest and sincere repentance. Apostle Peter exampled this same kind of genuine repentance for
us in his account of betraying his Lord, by denying Him, three times.
14. Read Galatians 3:11. Is it possible for anyone to be justified by his own efforts or by the law? No
15. Read Galatians 3:11-14 Explain how it is then, that a man or woman may be justified? By faith in Jesus
Christ's redemptive work upon the Cross of Calvary.
16. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17. Having accepted this wonderful gift of Life and entering into the New
Covenant, what does God's Word say we now are IN CHRIST? A new creature
17. Read Ephesians 4:22. What are to do now with the old man? Lay it aside
18. According to Colossians 2:11-12, how has the old man been put off? Through the spiritual and
symbolic experience signified and provided in water baptism. (This is an outward expression of the
inward commitment to lay aside the old life and come up, and enter into the Light of God's Kingdom
provided by Christ's death, burial and resurrection.)
19. Read 2 Corinthians 10:4-5. How does the scripture say we may war against the old man (old nature),
when it rises up to oppose us (within ourselves and through others)?
a. Destroying speculations
b. Destroying every lofty thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God
c. Taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ
20. Read Ephesians 4:24. What does the Word tell us we are to do with the New Nature we have through
Christ now? We are to put it on
21. Ephesians 4:23 and Colossians 3:10 give us the instruction of how we are to put on our new nature.
a. Be renewed the spirit of your mind
b. Be renewed to a true knowledge according the image of Him
22. Read Ephesians 4:24 again. As we put on our new nature (the regenerate self), into what is this
wonderful new nature actually created into, and what two qualities does it hold?
a. In true righteousness
b. In holiness of the truth (according to God's Word)
23. Read 2 Corinthians 3:18. Since our new nature is created in the image of Jesus, and our
righteousness is given to us by faith in Christ, and is not of our own, what attitudes and moral qualities
should our life naturally produce without any added effort on our part? The character traits of Jesus
24. Read Galatians 5:16. What is the source of righteousness in our lives? Walking in the Spirit
