PREPARE TO MEET YOUR MAKER
Many people today, not only Christian’s in the United States of America, but all over this earth,
are aware of the changing times that are bringing not only increasingly and severe adverse
weather conditions with earthquakes, unprecedented snow storms, unparalleled, floods,
tsunami’s, but also famine, plagues, cholera and increasing sicknesses. All of these are now
catching the whole world’s attention! Along with governments of many nations toppling, and
yet, do not top the list of what seems to those, who are alert and are keeping their lamps filled,
to be God’s righteous judgment on the earth, but also we are presently seeing what the
prophets spoke about and Jesus foretold in warning, in the gospel of Matthew 24:4-24, about
wars and rumors of wars, and nation rising up against nation and kingdom against kingdom.
The book of Amos 4:12 declares “Prepare to meet your God”! These are sobering words
certainly will attract the eye of any reader who happens to be studying this particular
passage. Amos 4:12 proclaims, "Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel, and because I
will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel." This God that Israel was going to have
to come to terms with and have this critical encounter with, was not any old god, but this is the
“only one true and Almighty God” who created the heaven’s and the earth and all that is in it!
“Prepare to meet your God (or Maker)” in these passages of Amos 4:6-12, is speaking about
the righteous justice or judgment of God through any one of the major calamities coming to a
people for the sole purpose of producing genuine repentance because of their continuous
rebellion and failure to observe His righteous standards and laws that He had required them to
live by as a way of life. Their obedience and submission to God would have brought many
blessings and promises to pass, especially the promise of eternal salvation if they would have
obeyed His word. But instead, all of God’s previous warnings to them produced no such effect
on them and for this reason they must prepare to meet their God! This meeting was not going
to be an altar call for salvation or for a revival, but instead they were going to come face to
face in meeting His judgment! Israel would be helpless before him, because He is the
sovereign, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent God! There is no escape from His wrath!
At this point, no body will be able to plead their ignorance before the righteous Judge, because
by this time everyone had been given fair warning and witness.
Jesus declared in Matt 24:4-8 "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in
my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors
of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to
come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines
and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains. 9 "Then you
will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations
because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each
other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the
increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but he who stands firm to the end
will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a
testimony to all nations, and then the end will come”.
Jesus is speaking of the “time of the end” that will be coming upon this whole earth
throughout these few verses. There is a time when each and every person alive will meet his
Maker and will come to have a Peniel encounter with God. Peniel means “face to face with
God”. Peniel was the name of the place where Jacob saw God face to face and wrestled with
Him until he obtained the blessing that he so desperately sought after. Jacob’s Peniel
encounter and blessing of the Lord freely gave him the peace he needed to meet his brother
Esau who was waiting beyond the river to kill him. Not only did the Lord give Jacob peace, but
He gave him eternal life and life abundantly. John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill
and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Esau was likened to
the thief, who had come to destroy the Lord’s inheritance, but God diverted the enemies plan
and softened Esau’s heart towards his brother and they made amends with one another.
It was at Peniel that God claimed Jacobs life and it was here also that he was consecrated
unto the Lord for His purposes. This encounter with God for the righteous will ultimately be
very rewarding with eternal blessings that are incomprehensible. This consequential and
preeminent reward is solely due to fact that these righteous ones lived productive, holy and
upright lives on the earth, by not only sowing seeds of righteousness in their own lives, but
also in the lives of those in their realm and sphere of authority. Hosea 10:12. But for the
rebellious and disobedient, it is quite another story with an end that is promised in scripture
with eternal death and gloom as their fate for all of eternity!
Heb 10:26-27 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the
truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging
fire that will consume the enemies of God.
Rev 20:15 If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the
lake of fire .
Prepare to meet your Maker in all actuality is not something that any of the rebellious and
disobedient will have any choice or say in when this time comes! This time of the Lord’s
coming, will come suddenly and instantly without warning! It is what scripture calls a
“suddenly”! Many Christians will be left behind at the time of the rapture but they will meet
their Maker face to face in the horrible judgment that they will experience through the great
and horrendous tribulation that Jesus warns about in these verses in Matthew 24. For these
who are left behind, their mere belief in the existence of the Deity was not enough to produce
the lively faith and change of heart to bring about the conformity to God’s will which He
demands for all who are called His children. Those who go to their death before this time will
still have a “face to face encounter” with Him one way or the other.
If your faith is not influencing your heart and conduct towards an upward call to know God and
His Son, Jesus Christ, to have deep and intimate fellowship with them through the leading and
drawing of the Holy Spirit, then you might just as well have stayed in your lost and heathen
state! In other wards, if your spiritual condition does not change and you stay where you are in
your nominal Christianeze compromise, then your faith is a dead faith that did not produce the
fruit that God’s Word promises to bring when one is blood bought, blood washed and
sanctified through their obedience to His commands and precepts. These unproductive,
rebellious and disobedient people will meet their Maker suddenly, and before they know what
has happen to them they will be cast into the burning lake of fire and will have the regrets with
gashing of teeth before them for all of eternity! Matt 13:40-43 Just as the darnel (weeds
resembling wheat) is gathered and burned with fire, so it will be at the close of the age. 41 The
Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all causes of
offense [persons by whom others are drawn into error or sin] and all who do iniquity and act
wickedly, 42 And will cast them into the furnace of fire; there will be weeping and wailing and
grinding of teeth. 43 Then will the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with
God) shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let him who has ears [to hear] be
listening, and let him consider and perceive and understand by hearing.
The wicked are defined as those who do not obey God and His Son, Jesus Christ. because of
disobedience to His commands and precepts. They follow the corrupt desires of the sinful
nature and despise authority! 2 Peter 2:5-10 if he (God) did not spare the ancient world
when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of
righteousness, and seven others; 6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by
burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
8(for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul
by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— 9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue
godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing
their punishment. 10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the
sinful nature and despise authority.
You cannot call yourself a Christian and despise the authority of God’s Word, or His leadership
who try to lead you in this good way, or yet for the young to despise the authority of your
parents when they discipline you and try to teach right from wrong.
You and I will meet our Creator one day! There are hundreds and thousands of things that we
can refrain from doing, such as, refusing to pray, refusing to repent and conform to God’s
righteous ways, or refusing to confess Jesus as Lord and Savior, but dear ones, there is one
thing that you and I cannot do, and that is refuse to meet our Maker one day! At this call, all
must hear and obey! There is no choice or excuse! Many will meet Him soon! The time is very
certain that we all will meet Him.
Delaying other matters sometimes is very wise and appropriate, but all that pertains and
relates to the matters of your soul, delay is very dangerous when it comes to the well being of
your soul and let me add, it is very indifferent and contrary to the Word of God and His way!
You see, you and I will have to meet and face God alone! We meet in groups and crowds and
families at this present time, but as individuals then, we will each meet with God face to face.
Meeting Him unprepared will be the greatest ruin and calamity of your eternal being, because
of lack of preparation while you had the time. We all must die alone and we all must meet God
alone. How will you meet your Maker if you neglect this required and necessary preparation in
devoting your life and services to the One who is offering you so much? What shall be the end
of them that do not obey the Gospel of truth and grace?
1 Peter 4:17-18
For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the
outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And, "If it is hard for the righteous
to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?"
2 Thess 1:7-9
All this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of
the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. 6 God is just: He will pay back trouble to those
who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen
when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 8 He will
punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will
be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from
the majesty of his power
If God takes a sinner by surprise, it is after the rejection of many and thousands warnings to
get his or her attention as to the truth of His Word. God strikes before He destroys and He
speaks before He strikes. His Son, Jesus Christ is coming back very soon and many millions
of people including Christians have neglected His warnings, as far as heeding His admonition
in being prepared to meet Him one day. A prime example of this is found in the parable of the
ten virgins (Matthew 25). The five wise virgins kept their lamps full and had extra supply of oil,
but the five foolish virgins did neither and were found wanting when the Bridegroom returned.
It is almost certain that we are presently in the midst of these end times! God’s coming
judgment is rendered most reasonable, and it is fair and most probable by first the testimony
of scripture and then the terrors of conscience that are sure to come. This coming judgment
is counted to be most certain by the Word of God. Here is an event in history which we are not
to be mere spectators, but individuals who will be deeply concerned and involved.
We ought to most certainly be prepared to meet Him. Ask yourself now, these questions:
A. Can I escape His judgment?
B. Can I contend with my Maker?
C. Can I endure my Makers wrath?
For those who take this sure word and prophetic event to come serious, there is a preparation
which will enable you to meet Him in safety and in peace. God in His word tells us what to do
and assures us of full provision and means for all that we are required to do in receiving the
reward of eternal life.
A. You must move on towards keeping your eyes fixed on the Author and Finisher of your faith
and keep the world at your backs.
B. You must go forth with tears in your eyes seeking and pleading for deeper and more
intimate fellowship with your Maker.
C. You must keep a petition in your hand that pleads for the souls of men.
D. You must go forward continually with Christ at your side and precious Holy Spirit as your
rear guard.
E. You must keep a continually repentant heart.
F. You must produce fruit that is in keeping with your repentance.
G. You must prepare scripturally every day and keep prayer foremost in your heart.
Preparation for meeting your Maker in the afflictions and judgments right ahead of us should
be made AT ONCE! YOU SHOULD NOT DELAY! THE BIBLE REQUIRES IT TO BE DONE AT ONCE
AND IT DEMANDS THAT NOTHING SHOULD TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER THIS TIME OF
PREPARATION. THE TIME IS COMING VERY SOON WHERE THE DOOR TO THE DAY OF GRACE
WILL CLOSE AND IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO BEG HIM FOR MERCY OR ANOTHER CHANCE.
THERE IS SLIM PROBABILITY OF PREPARATION TO BE MADE UPON A DEATH BED. GOD DOES
NOT PUNISH IN CRUELTY, BUT ONLY IN LOVE! HE WARNS FIRST AND THEN HE STRIKES!
For those of you reading this who have not committed your life to Christ, you are not exempt
from this judgment! It too, is a sure thing for you! In order to be saved from this horrible event
soon to come, you must prepare to meet your Maker by opening your heart to Him and :
A. Being born again and be reconciled to God and renewed by His Holy Spirit
B. You must truly repent of your sins
C. You must ask forgiveness for your sins.
D. You must ask Jesus to come into your heart and then live your life according to His
commands and comply exactly with what He requires. You must meet His terms and never
make any mistake on this point. Too many people compromise God’s word and live
presumptuously.
God has spoken and we must comply! Let us all prepare to meet our Maker and keep a
sincerely humble and repentant heart before Him always. Our weakness are great and our
guilt is very apparent and our foolishness too atrocious! Let us always turn away from sin,
throw our idols and excuses away and turn unto God and seek His face daily!
Let us cast ourselves upon His mercy and grace in the person of His Son, Christ Jesus. Let us
prepare to meet our Maker by throwing ourselves at the foot of the Cross daily and by relying
on the justification and acceptance in the atoning blood, and the wonderful and blessed
sacrifice of God’s eternal Son!
Let us resolve to meet our Maker as repentant, humble and passionate love sick maidens in
Song of Solomon, who searched diligently for her lover until she found Him. Let us call upon
His most beautiful Name and be desperate for Him at all times and seek Him continually!

of people including Christians have neglected His warnings, as far as heeding His admonition
in being prepared to meet Him one day. A prime example of this is found in the parable of the
ten virgins (Matthew 25). The five wise virgins kept their lamps full and had extra supply of oil,
but the five foolish virgins did neither and were found wanting when the Bridegroom returned.
It is almost certain that we are presently in the midst of these end times! God’s coming
judgment is rendered most reasonable, and it is fair and most probable by first the testimony
of scripture and then the terrors of conscience that are sure to come. This coming judgment
is counted to be most certain by the Word of God. Here is an event in history which we are not
to be mere spectators, but individuals who will be deeply concerned and involved.
We ought to most certainly be prepared to meet Him. Ask yourself now, these questions:
A. Can I escape His judgment?
B. Can I contend with my Maker?
C. Can I endure my Makers wrath?
For those who take this sure word and prophetic event to come serious, there is a preparation
which will enable you to meet Him in safety and in peace. God in His word tells us what to do
and assures us of full provision and means for all that we are required to do in receiving the
reward of eternal life.
A. You must move on towards keeping your eyes fixed on the Author and Finisher of your faith
and keep the world at your backs.
B. You must go forth with tears in your eyes seeking and pleading for deeper and more
intimate fellowship with your Maker.
C. You must keep a petition in your hand that pleads for the souls of men.
D. You must go forward continually with Christ at your side and precious Holy Spirit as your
rear guard.
E. You must keep a continually repentant heart.
F. You must produce fruit that is in keeping with your repentance.
G. You must prepare scripturally every day and keep prayer foremost in your heart.
Preparation for meeting your Maker in the afflictions and judgments right ahead of us should
be made AT ONCE! YOU SHOULD NOT DELAY! THE BIBLE REQUIRES IT TO BE DONE AT ONCE
AND IT DEMANDS THAT NOTHING SHOULD TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER THIS TIME OF
PREPARATION. THE TIME IS COMING VERY SOON WHERE THE DOOR TO THE DAY OF GRACE
WILL CLOSE AND IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO BEG HIM FOR MERCY OR ANOTHER CHANCE.
THERE IS SLIM PROBABILITY OF PREPARATION TO BE MADE UPON A DEATH BED. GOD DOES
NOT PUNISH IN CRUELTY, BUT ONLY IN LOVE! HE WARNS FIRST AND THEN HE STRIKES!
For those of you reading this who have not committed your life to Christ, you are not exempt
from this judgment! It too, is a sure thing for you! In order to be saved from this horrible event
soon to come, you must prepare to meet your Maker by opening your heart to Him and :
A. Being born again and be reconciled to God and renewed by His Holy Spirit
B. You must truly repent of your sins
C. You must ask forgiveness for your sins.
D. You must ask Jesus to come into your heart and then live your life according to His
commands and comply exactly with what He requires. You must meet His terms and never
make any mistake on this point. Too many people compromise God’s word and live
presumptuously.
God has spoken and we must comply! Let us all prepare to meet our Maker and keep a
sincerely humble and repentant heart before Him always. Our weakness are great and our
guilt is very apparent and our foolishness too atrocious! Let us always turn away from sin,
throw our idols and excuses away and turn unto God and seek His face daily!
Let us cast ourselves upon His mercy and grace in the person of His Son, Christ Jesus. Let us
prepare to meet our Maker by throwing ourselves at the foot of the Cross daily and by relying
on the justification and acceptance in the atoning blood, and the wonderful and blessed
sacrifice of God’s eternal Son!
Let us resolve to meet our Maker as repentant, humble and passionate love sick maidens in
Song of Solomon, who searched diligently for her lover until she found Him. Let us call upon
His most beautiful Name and be desperate for Him at all times and seek Him continually!
